Live-in Houseman
On behalf of our client, we are seeking a dedicated, experienced, and hands-on Houseman to join a private family home located in the East Midlands, set within a picturesque English village.
The residence is a large, historic English estate owned by a professional couple. This is a fully private household, and no commercial events are held on the estate. The role is primarily Monday to Friday, offering an excellent work-life balance within a prestigious private home.
This is a live-in position, with excellent independent accommodation provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Looking after and maintaining household vehicles, including arranging servicing, MOTs, fuel, and routine maintenance.
- Carrying out basic vehicle inspections and ensuring all vehicles are roadworthy, fully prepared, and immaculately presented.
- Providing occasional chauffeur services for the principals, ensuring a safe, discreet, and punctual service.
- General houseman duties, including supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the household.
- Assisting with housekeeping duties, including laundry, wardrobe care, and general household organisation when required.
- Serving food and beverages to a high standard for the principals.
- Cleaning and polishing silver, brass, and other fine household items with meticulous attention to detail.
- Setting, lighting, and maintaining open fires, ensuring fireplaces are clean, safe, and ready for use.
- Assisting with household maintenance, deliveries, errands, and liaising with contractors where appropriate.
- Ensuring the property and its facilities are maintained to the highest standards at all times.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will be professional, discreet, proactive, and take genuine pride in delivering exceptional standards within a private household. You will be self-motivated, adaptable, and comfortable working independently while maintaining complete confidentiality.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience in a private household, country estate, boutique hotel, or similar high-standard environment.
- A full, clean UK driving licence with an excellent driving record.
- Excellent housekeeping and practical household skills.
- Experience with silver service or formal food and beverage service would be advantageous.
- A smart, well-groomed, and professional appearance.
- A flexible, positive, and hands-on attitude.
- High levels of discretion, integrity, and confidentiality.
- Eligibility to live and work in the UK.
