Live in or Live Out

We provide staff who live-in or out of their employer’s houses…

Butler-PAs may have been trained in a recognised butler school or received their training ‘on the job’. Whichever way they learned their profession, they are more than capable of supervising other household staff and dealing with the many issues which arise when running a large household. In some circumstances, the butler may also take on other roles such as chef/cook, valet or chauffeur. Please visit the Job Descriptions page for a full list of duties.

Companion Roles

A companion provides companionship to the employer whether in the house or when visiting friends and relatives, Dr’s appointments, hairdressers, personal shopping for clothes, shoes, make up etc.

– Prepares and cooks basic meals taking into consideration any dietary needs.
– Will keep the house clean and do washing and ironing.
– Shops for groceries.
– Deals with tradesmen and receives deliveries.
– Answers the telephone.
– Keeps household accounts.
– Reminds her employer when medication should be taken.

Lady’s Maid Roles

We provide staff who live-in or out of their employer’s houses…

The Lady’s Maid is the female equivalent of a valet, offering services to the lady of the house.  They could assist the lady of the house with dressing, laundry, mending clothing as required, examining clothings to check for any repairs or alterations, doing any shopping, packing and unpacking for the lady as well as female guests, cleaning the lady’s bedroom and bathroom as well as caring for any jewellery the lady owns.  The lady’s maid is generally expected to assist with general housekeeping duties and carry out additional tasks as required.

Valet Roles

We are happy to advise on salary rates and other employment matters….

Maintains clothing for the gentleman of the house, lays out clothes, cleans shoes, and sends clothes to the laundry or dry cleaners as required.

– Checks clothing for repairs.
– Offers similar valeting services to gentlemen house guests. Carries guests’ luggage and offers to pack/unpack.
– Tidies and cleans gentlemen’s cupboards and dressing area, rotating clothes as necessary. Regularly checks dressing area for clothes.
– Carries out any other task the employer may reasonably ask.
