With reference to housekeeping, we may, in exceptional cases, accept hands-on and supervisory experience in the hotel sector. We interview them to assess their skills and personality. WHAT DOES A COOK HOUSEKEEPER DO?
A cook housekeeper will prepare good, wholesome meals for the family. In many cases, they are able to cook for small dinner parties or social events too. We tend to describe their culinary skills and the cuisines they are familiar with on their CVs. Often, they will prepare meals for the freezer or for 'heating up' on your return from work.
When not preparing meals, they will, at the very least, clean the house and wash and iron clothes. Some have the ability, if time is available, to care for special floor and kitchen surfaces, look after antique furniture and other special items, shop for groceries, deal with tradesmen and contractors, look after pets and babysit. A live-in cook housekeeper needs to have special attributes as it is not easy to have a complete stranger living in your house. For example, previous experience of living-in, the capacity to respect your privacy, the art of discretion and the ability to merge seamlessly into the family's routines.
